With the benevolent aim, a charitable trust - "JAN VIKAS NYAS" was formed in May 1971 by visionary leader Shri Shitla Sahai for providing treatment to Cancer patients. In this pious cause, he was highly supported by great seer the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia and her illustrious son. It was a dream of Ex-Cabinet Minister of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh (Late) Shri Shitla Sahai, the founder trustee of Jan Vikas Nyas, to set up a highly developed general hospital equipped with most advanced ICU, Dialysis Unit, Cath Lab, for providing treatment of Cardiology, Nephrology and Neurology. Hence, to fulfill the dreams of respected Late Shri Shitla Sahai, SSIMS Multi-specialty Hospital was started with four modern operation theaters (OT), Dialysis Unit, ICU ( Medical & Surgical) and other important streams of Medical Sciences on 12th June 2015 with sanctioned strength of 95 beds.
Effective steps were made to establish Cath-Lab for treatment of cardiac patients at the time of opening of SSIMS Hospital and it started in the shape of Private Partnership Model by PG Health Care. By this time wide publicity has already been made in the entire Gwalior and adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan as well. Due to establishment of Cardiology department in SSIMS, cardiac patients of not only Gwalior but also of UP and Rajasthan were benefitted.
With the valuable efforts of Dr Neeraj Sharma (Director - SSIMS Multi-Specialty Hospital) important streams of medical sciences were also started. At present, in SSIMS Hospital most advanced treatment in following streams of medical sciences is provided

At present SSIMS has the capacity to do the dialysis of 40 patients at one time. To note, such a facility is unavailable at any other place in the entire Madhya Pradesh.
In its initial stage SSIMS Multi-specialty Hospital has provided treatment to poor patients relating to Eye under DBC Scheme, now it is being conducted under Ayushman Scheme (PM-JAY)
SSIMS has also executed agreements for treatment of employees and their dependents of ECHS, Central Railway, Airport Authority of India, BSNL, MP POLICE (under Police Health Protection Scheme) and many other leading private health insurance companies.
